Tennessee's farms are full of old stone walls that still stand. We build with the same principles: a stable base, large stones at the bottom, tight fit, staggered joints and enough weight to hold the line. Mortared walls get footings and steel; dry-stack walls get a drained, compacted bed.

Dry-stack lets water drain and flex with frost, and suits low garden walls. Mortared walls are better for tall or formal walls, columns and anything that needs a flat, clean face.
How tall can a garden wall be?
Walls under about three feet are the simplest. Taller walls need engineering, footings and often permits, and we plan those with you.
